Why would I want to feel again if feeling causes me pain?



I get it. Emotionally detaching helps us shield ourselves from what our mind convinces us are ‘unnecessary distractions’ so we can keep going.


And that’s okay if you need to run away. That’s okay if you want to detach from the overwhelming feelings rising inside of you. There are times when it’s actually healthy to do so. As human beings, we’ve learned to numb our pain to survive, and being able to control our emotions is an incredible superpower.


But you can’t keep ignoring it forever. You can’t pretend the pain isn’t there forever. You can’t run away forever. Unless you face it, it will always come back to find you.


Sometimes, what helps the most also hurts the most. But if you don’t open the wound, how can you heal? If you don’t treat the wound, how can it ever be cured for good?


Allow yourself to feel it all. Let yourself cry. Let yourself be vulnerable. And go right through it. Even if the tunnel seems scary and never-ending, full of nothing but darkness and uncertainty, if you keep going through the path of pain, I promise you’ll see the light. You’ll reach the light. You’ll get out of the tunnel and become the light ✨
